Mini-vaca
I took a four day weekend over the President’s Day holiday, and as part of it I took a break from my normal internet haunts….so that’s why I’ve been missing from BuddySlim for the past several days. I ate fairly well, and went for a good run on Saturday, but haven’t exercised since. I still feel in a slump from my “off-track” weekend two weeks ago. I’m trying hard to focus on my motivation again and get my act together, but I’m just not feeling the inspiration I did earlier in the year.

I hope that this is just a normal downtime in between spurts of discipline!! I brought my gym clothes to work today and will use every ounce of willpower I have to get over to the gym at lunchtime. I need you now, buddies…..I’m having a really hard time DOING the steps I know will get me to my goal. I know none of you can show up in person and kick my butt into gear, but any encouragement would help now in this time of bummer-ness!!
Welcome back Kari!
You are not alone. I am still struggling as are several other buddies I know…I think its several things. I think this time of year is one…And I think when you have been on track for while, and doing really well, well, you kind of just need a break. Mentally and physically…
I simply do not want to work out right now to save my life!!! UGH…I keep tredging along hoping that I will get my groove back. And I KNOW I will eventually, but geesh…
I am right there with you!!!
Dawn
I think you need to join the competition Kari. It’s done wonders for me. If you don’t do it for YOU, do it for a team where 15 others are counting on YOUR actions for results…..it’s gotten me back on track and kickin’ @ss!!!!!
Kari… You are about to get married and all you want is to get that super fab dress to look perfect.. The only person that can get you to lose weight is you, but we are here to support you along the way!!
Keep on SWIMMIN, WORKIN OUT, RUNNIN.. doing whatever makes you feel like you are acheiving your goals!!
GO KARI GO!!!
You are the most energetic buddy I have. I know you have that energy you need in you, all you have to do is slow down and take a breather. Remember you do have other things to think about than just your exercise. Take a breather and start slow. You will see you will find your modivation in you soon. Take care and I am also rooting for you.
GOO KARI, YOU CAN DO IT. ! ! !

We have definitely all been where you are right now! The hardest thing to do is get motivated after you’ve been motivated for so long. It’s like your engine runs out of steam. Sometimes it helps to shake things up a bit. Change your routine, your permitted foods, your exercise, etc. Also, finding new reasons to lose weight is always good. I will try to list some possible motivators and maybe one of them will help! (Beware, this is gonna take a while!
)
1. You have many buddies on this site that are wishing you the best in reaching your goals! You don’t want to disappoint them, now do you?
On Monday night I read about how all of the famous people who have recently gone through a break-up are trimming down and becoming more fit and more active. Just seeing their success made me go out for a quick run right then!
2. You have done so well already, and you have made great progress. You can’t give up now! And you certainly don’t want to regain the weight you worked so hard to lose!
3. You have just under 5 months until your big wedding day. I know you probably have a vision of what you want to look like on that day, and you have been working towards it all this time! Remind yourself of that vision, and keep it handy at all times!
4. Dress alterations generally need to be done at least 1-2 months in advance of your wedding day, so now is the time to get to your goal weight so you can get your dress properly sized! You don’t want it to be too big when your wedding day comes around.
5. Think back on how it feels to see another pound disappear on the scale. Such an exciting moment! It’s like working out. Nobody wants to do it, but they always feel better after they do. If we just train ourselves to do the things we don’t want to do because we know we will feel better later, then we will be in great shape! You know how wonderful you feel after you complete a long run or a tough workout and that is why you do it! Dieting is the same. We don’t want to do it, but it makes us feel SO good when we do!
6. Read back over some of your past blogs. There is so much happiness, will-power, and success there! Sometimes it helps to read over our own thoughts from before to understand what made us so motivated at that time.
7. Buy some fitness magazines or books! I love reading about new exercises, tips, and diet news.
8. Review your weight-loss goals. Try making a plan for how you will lose each pound. Be sure to account for holidays, outings with friends, etc. Then you will have a small goal (1 pound!) to worry about at any given moment. Also, you can see if you are on track.
9. Maybe try tracking and graphing your weight like you did in January. It is interesting to see how weight can change so drastically from day to day. I have started tracking this way and I now know that if I eat crackers, and things like that I will gain water back. Knowing what makes your body change can help you avoid those things and your success will come so much faster!
10. Join a challenge, team, etc. so you will be accountable for your loss. I know you’ve done the 3 OP days in a row challenge, and you did well with it!
I know you have the potential to reach your goals! Since I joined BuddySlim, I have truly enjoyed reading your blogs. Hearing about your daily successes has helped me in my journey, and I know it has helped others too! You have always had such an amazing attitude, and that is hard to find! You will find your groove again, and you will be successful! Hang in there!!!

Don’t know if you read Luella’s blog today or not, but she said that she watched some dude on Oprah say something simple, yet profound.
DON’T TRY, DO!!
I agree. Harsh, but so true.
I think you HAVE to DO what you NEED to do. Girl, not to add more pressure, but your wedding is coming up and there’s a dress waiting to make you look stunning, but you need to help it along!!
C’mon girl, you can do this. I always look up to you for strength and motivation. If there’s one person here who can get this job done, it’s YOU!! Let’s go, let’s put on those running shoes and get the heck moving!!
